Ever since I can remember
I’ve been in love with you.

Ever since I can remember
I’ve bled red, white and blue.

And when
you needed me
I laid my life on the line.

I watched young people die
With out a last goodbye.
For A cause they thought Devine.

But you were my country right or wrong.
And I would do what ever it took
to protect you and keep you strong.

How could I know,
when I believed in you so?

That I’d feel so betrayed
by excuses that you made
as the killer waters rose.

How many times have I watched the news
and seen the suffering faces?

Famine and floods
death and despair
in those poor sad third world places.

I would think to myself how unfair it is.
Why couldn’t they live here?

Where they would never be starving
forgotten or lost.
Not in “the country that I hold so dear

But then one day the Truth came riding in on a hurricane.
The waters rose.
Our children cried out.
And yet you never came.

Our leaders stood by
and watched us die.
My country steeped in shame.

Poor people in need.
Poor leaders in greed.
A tragedy became.

But despite it all, the true spirit of America began to show.
It’s always been we the people,
who have made this country grow.

And so it was the people
and not the leaders
who reached out in time of need.

Citizens, motivated by love
not politicians motivated by greed.

My Country Tis’ of thee,
slowly bleeding liberty.
Of thee I sing.
For thee I pray we regain the sense of honor
that’s been taken away.

God please forgive our leaders
For they know not what they do.

But someday when their gone
Help us to move on
Their damage to undue.

Holding on so gallantly
Of thee I sing
For thee I pray

It might take a Certain Shepherd
Just to show us the way.

God Please give us the courage
To come up with a plan

To re-unite us with the planet
and the Family of Man.

Please give us back
The country
I once was so proud of.

Please give us back
that country
That first made me
fall in love.

And please give us the courage
to come up with a plan.

Before we lose the planet
and the Family of Man.
